2007 Race Update
There will be day of race registration please show up at 7-7:30, we will have a table set up in the lodge. If you are under 18 you will need a parents signature to sign up for the race.
28th Annual Black Hills Triathlon
Dear Triathlete:
The start for the race is 9:30am.
Wetsuits are required for all entrants.
Packet Pickup Times –
7:00 – 8:30 am Saturday at the ELC, Millersylvania State Part, there will be no Friday Pickup available.
All packets much be picked up by 8:30 am. Packets not picked up by 8:30 will be given to stand-by racers.
Teams (Relays) – All relay team members must sign the waiver before packet pickup.
Parking: We encourage all race participants to use the free
parking available at the ELC. If you choose to park elsewhere you will be
responsible for the $5.00 parking fee. The road to the ELC will close at 8:30 am
on race day. Late arrivals will have a half-mile walk to the ELC.
Please note that people parking at the ELC will not be able to leave until the
last bike returns to the transition area approximately 12:30 pm.
NO DOGS – No dogs are allowed within the ELC.
Child Care - There will be no childcare available at the Black Hills Triathlon.
Kids Race – The annual Black Hills Kids Triathlon is open to children 5-14 years old. The kids’ race will begin after the Triathlon and before the Triathlon awards ceremony.
Registration for Black Hills Kids Race; will take place at Millersylvania State Park on race day until 9:00 am. Each application must have a parent’s signature. The race will be limited to the first 50 entries. There is no entry fee.

The race (start time is 9:30 am) will take place in beautiful Thurston County with one central transition area at the
Environmental Learning Center on the west end of Deep Lake. The swim will be a 3/4 mile loop in
Deep Lake (wet suit required! -2006 race-day water temperature was
71 degrees), the bike
will be 30 miles on rural roads with little traffic, and the run will be 5 shady miles on trails
through the forest of Millersylvania State
Park (see map).

LOCATION
Millersylvania State Park. Take exit 95 (Maytown) off Interstate 5.
Go right at Maytown Rd. to Tilley Rd. and turn left. Follow signs to
State Park entrance. Park gates open at 6:00 a.m. Please be quiet
preparing for the race. (see
map) Leave dogs and other pets at home.
PARKING: We encourage you to use the free parking available at the Environmental Learning Center. The road to the ELC closes at 8:30 am. If you park at the ELC you will not be able to leave until the last bike returns at approximately 1230 pm. If you choose to park in the park proper then you must make arrangements to pay the $5.00 parking fee. If not, you will be ticketed.
ENTRY FEE / REGISTRATION
DIVISION / AGE GROUPS
Individual: Both male and female categories will have the following age groups:
15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 0 50-54, 55-59, 60+. Team
Relay: all male, all female, and mixed categories. Age groups will be determined
by the combined ages of all team members: Under 120, or 120 and over.
BLACK HILLS KIDS
Our younger athletes (5-14) are encouraged to sign up on race
day for the junior version of the B.H.T. We will take the first 50 to
sign up. The bike and run course is on a grass field.
AWARDS
Individual awards will be given to the top overall male and female
finishers, the overall masters male and female, and top three finishers
in each age group. Relay awards will be given to the top finishers in
each division: all male, all female, and mixed.
BIKE SAFETY
All bicycles used in the Black Hills Triathlon should be professionally
inspected prior to the race. Bike mechanics will be available to help with
any necessary repairs on race day. An ANSI approved cycling helmet is
required during the entire bike course.
SWIM START
The swim start will have four waves. wet suit required!

Absolutely no drafting will be allowed.
This event is NOT USAT sanctioned.
