Greetings. My name is Brian Anderson, 25 years old from Tempe, Arizona. It seems when I run I get heartburn. On longer runs, the problem gets worse. Often it is "cured" when I pop a couple of Tums when I get home. I do get heartburn when I don't run, but it seems worse when I do. I don't drink much water while running, but a drink does seem to mitigate the pain. Any help is much appreciated. Thanks, Neil.
Brian - try taking an antacid before you run. It is best not to experience heartburn because the acid getting into your oesophogus is not in your best interest. Also, the long term problem that might develope, reflux, is no fun!
There are several stronger antacids on the market that are now available over the counter, so check out what the pharmacy has to offer. Talk to the pharmacist about your problem, and ask him or her for advice regarding teh best medicine.
