Thanks for taking the time to answer my question. I have suffered from
feet, knee, hip and back problems because of some problems since birth.
My doctor has diagnosed me with the following term. "Chondromalia
Patella Plantar Faciitis Bi". I understand the Plantar Faciitis Bi
but I do not understand Chondromalia Patella completely. Can you
explain this problem to me?
Chondromalacia Patella is actually a softening of the bone on the underside of the patella. The condition is a ersult of contunuous pressure between the patella (knee cap) and the distal end of the femur. It begins as irritation of the articular cartilage, and as the pressure continues between the patella and the femur the bone gradually begins to soften. It is a real problem and is typically identified by pain associated with rising or decending stairs, prolonged sitting, and rising from sitting. Because the problem is biomechanical at it's root, we treat the condition with a combination of ice, functional exercise, NSAID's, and orthotics.
