I am experiencing pain in my forefoot when I run - directly between the ball and 5th metatarsal joint. I don't think it is Morton's Neuroma, because the pain doesn't flare up my toes. Pressing on this spot on my foot while resting also causes pain. I am icing and taking Advil. Any ideas on what this ailment might be?
Julie, it is common for runners to lose their transverse arch, the arch that runs across your foot from your first to the fifth metatarsal. This arch gives your foot more stability, and losing it often leads to forefoot pain. '
Another idea is that you might have a stress fracture in one of your metatarsals. If it doesn't settle down soon, then see your doctor and get an x-ray.
