I'm an avid runner who has been suffering from patellat tendonitis
for a period of about two years, on and off. I'm sure of the problem,
pain at the patella point, even to the touch, it gets worse with the
more miles I log. I need to train but the pain is really bringing me
down. I have the tendon straps(how do I wear them) and what is the best
cure / treatment? Should I wear neopren knee brace like the one from
drytex? Please help...
To answer your question, let me pose one: If a train ran off the tracks, would
you try to repair the train, or the tracks to prevent ot form occuring again? My
guess (at least I hope you would agree with me) is to repair the tracks...Same
thing with the knee. While straps (which should be worn between the patella and
the tibial tubercle, and knee sleeves offer a degree of protection, you repair
the knee by eliminating the problem. Orthotics will improve patella allignment
by repositioning the femur (the tracks), and allow the tendon to heal. Till
then, use ice, use a brace, and use straps!
