Hi my name is Dave im 16 and just finished my first sesson of track , I finished
off the year running a 57.4 in the 400 meters. I would like to get my 400 meter
time down to a 51 and 52 by next years track session I have the whole summer to
work on it and track starts in march , do u have any workouts or techniques that
I can use to accomplish my goal, any tip is greatly appreciated my goal is to
ultimitly obtain the school record (48.9) , by the conclusion of my senior year,
I am very serious and dedicated to achieving this goal, I just need some
Dave, one of my clients (Anthony J.) is the former number 3 - 400 m runner in
the US (45.7). He told me that his coach had him working on 800m for a long
time, and required that he run a 2 minute 800 before he ALLOWED him race in the
400m! He (Anthony) said that those 800's were the best training he could have
had because it made him feel like 400m was short compared to the 800.
Also, you need to work on coming out of the turns - so run 200s starting at the
Also Run Farklecks - 100, walk 300, 200, walk 200, 300, walk 100 400, walk 400,
and then 800.
Also, run 100 m ten times in a row - run 100, walk back and repeat.
For cross training - go in line skating, and work hard.
