Can you give me info on bruising to the heel(stone bruise) and how it is
different from PF and how treatments differ.
We treat a bruise on the heel by making a "donut" like insert inder the heel to
allow the bruise to resolve. We use a high density foam, and cut out a "U" shape
so that the heel is comfortable in the shoe. Discontinue running for a period of
time, and use ice daily until the bruise is resolved. The pain of plantar
fasciitis is usually worse in the mornings, point tenderness is located on the
anterior portion of the calcaneous, and stretching makes it feel better. Not so
with a heel bruise.
