I have been told that I have mortons neuroma in my right foot, between toes 3/4
appx 5mm in size. I have had similar in left foot for many years and competed
at high level in triathlon (Ironman & long course)
I am now being told that I require surgery to remove the right foot neuroma.
What is the length of time taken for this to heal and how long before I can run
again?
I have already had to take 2 months out of running due to pain.
Is there anything else worth trying before surgery ?

We have had pretty good luck with a metatarsal pad as a method to increase the
transverse arch - by doing so, the nerve bundle is given a little more room to
function, and sometimes settles down. If you have an uncompensated forefoot
varus, posting the forefoot with a first ray cut out also helps a lot! (The
orthotist can make you orthotics with these instructions). Best of luck to you!
