Hi Neil,
I have been having a burning sensation in my calf and above my knee,
although not while running. It comes and goes. I also have noticed a
numbness in my leg on several occasions, once agan, not during exercise.
Sometimes when I run I have some pain on the outside of my calf. I had
tendonitis in my knee a few years ago, but didn't have these symptoms, just
pain in my knee. Do you think this could be a recurrence of the tendonits?
I have switched from running to walking for the past few weeks.
Thanks for your help.
Hi Laura,
It is not uncommon for back pain to show up in the leg first. while you did not
give me enough data to make a good guess about your condition, it sounds a lot
like it might have something to do with your back. The nerves in the back refer
pain and numbness into the lower extremity, and as such, whenever one has LE
numbness, one has to rule out LBP. My advice is for you to seek the help of a PT
or physician who is skilled in musculoskeletal diagnosis to help you define the
problem. Good luck.
