I got the flu big time. I am in my 15th week of training for a Marathon in March. How do I get back to the level I was before I got sick? I am still recovering, when do I resume my training?
Thank you.
Delise, the real key to returning to training after the flu is to make sure that you restore your hydration before starting to train. When you can walk without feeling dizzy, then you can start to jog, and after you can jog without feeling dizzy, you can start to run. Gradually build your distances until you feel strong enough to accelerate your training to catch up with your training schedule. Make sure to emphasize your cross training program as you recover your distances to help restore your lost muscle mass, and you should recover your condition in time for your marathon. Good luck.
