Neil...all the info on the site about stress fractures has been extremely
helpful but I have one more question. I'm a 220 lb runner who does great...but
I do have stress fractures..i'm sure the orthopedic doc will confirm it
monday...if i do spinning and swimming while i heal i can cope, but what would
prevent me from getting the fracture again the next time i go run?
You are most likely to avoid stress fractures if you protect yourself with
orthotics, increase your mileage on a gradient, make sure you have good shoes,
and avoid running on very hard surfaces like concrete. Also, you should cross
train so that running is not your only activity.
