I think I have Plantar Fasciitis, but not sure. My arch is what really hurts. My left foot only and on the outside of my foot not directly in the arch.
I run about 25-35 miles a week and plan to run my first marathon in February. But my foot really hurts. I am 33 and 6'1" I weight 195, so I am very close to my proper weight.
Do I have it? and what can I do?
If the pain is only increased during weight bearing, and on the outside of your arch,...I'd check with a clinician - you might have cuboid syndrome, and need a manipulation to fix it.
If the pain is made worse in the mornings, by standing on your foot - perhaps it is PF, especially of the pain is medial - it sounds more like PF than cuboid syndrome. It could be a stress fracture of a tarsal.
Assuming PF, You could use orthotics
In the meantime, have someone teach you how to tape your foot with a longitudinal arch support and a lo dye tape job
Then, ice aggressively
Stretch in the mornings gently before you bear weight
Finally, a night splint is useful in resolving the complaint.
If you don't get better soon, check with your MD to get a bone scan to rule out a stress fracture.
