
I've noticed recently that after my long runs, I smell like ammonia. What is my body burning to produce this odor? Am I lacking something, or getting too much of something in my diet?
Great question Karen....actually, the answer is that you are burning amino acids (proteins) rather than carbs....you definitely need to eat more carbs (fruit, veggies, grains and pasta)...also, you probably are a little dehydrated...so drink more water as well.
