I have an odd question that I am hoping you can help with. When I run, after the first mile to mile and a half, I start to lose feeling in my right toes. If I stop and walk and wiggle them, feeling will return, but if I go back to running, the same thing happens again. My Sports Med Dr. did x-rays and cannot seem to pinpoint why this takes place and is at a loss. I am in PT now and she thinks that it may be due to a shirring that my foot does during the pronation stage. Not too sure about this, but we will see. Any thoughts? My Dr. looked for bone spurs, fractures, etc. as well in the foot.
Thoughts are totally appreciated.
My guess, Karen, is that your forefoot arch is probably lacking, and a metatarsal arch support would help. I think a biomechanical eval is a good place to start. If I am correct, then custom orthotics which include a metatarsal arch support would be appropriate.
Good luck.
