I have developed a horrible pain right under the ball of my left foot. It elevated from just hurting while wearing heels to agonizing limping pains, in a course of 3 months. I havent worn heels for about a month and a half in hope the pain would go away, but the pain hads gotten worse ans worse. I think its helpfull to know that Im a dancer and usually have to practice in heels (althougth i havent done it for a while) The pain is agonzing and nothing seems to help. What could it be and how could it be treated. I read about different foot pain, but havent found anything on what Im feeling, whichi right under the ball of my foot. It hurts to move big toe only so i know its not matatarsalgia. It doesnt affact any other toes. The big toe itself doesnt hurt just when I move it, the under the ball hurts and i cant step on it. Please help!!!
Alina, it sounds like you have inflammed your sesamoids. The sesamoids are little bones in the long flexor tendon. If your toe is being pushed to the side when you stand on it, you could be stepping on the underside of the MTP joint leading to an inflammed joint. Either way, you need to give it a break. For example, don't wear high heels, in fact, you should cut a hole in your sole pad under the big toe to give it a little more room. You could also place a rocker bar under the shoe along the joint line to give the joint a break. Use ice, take NSAID's prescribed by your Dr. and make the shoe adjustments. Allow 6 weeks to heel.
Good Luck
