I just wanted to say I really enjoyed the half marathon on scenic Whidbey
Island. I used to live there but didn't remember all those hills! I feel
it was quite an accomplishment to finish the challenging course in the
time I did. The little rubber frogs added some fun; I was the lucky one
who found Frog #1 in a Port-A-Potty about mile #8 and received that
beautiful Pendleton blanket.
A problem encountered - there was no one directing traffic when we came
down Hwy 20 to turn right at the busy traffic light headed for Scenic
Heights. Luckily, the drivers were very considerate.
At the end, there was some confusion at Mile 25, Mile 11. Many runners
were asking that last water stop for gatorade, and were told there was
only water but don't worry, there was only one mile to go; we were at mile
25. Those of us running the half actually had two miles to go.
The course was extremely well marked. I met and visited with many nice
runners - some Navy - some not. Everyone involved did an excellent job.
Thank you for all your hard work.
