I love Bloomsday, and have run or walked it for 16 years in a row. I know that
the downtown construction forced the course alteration, but I sure hope it can be restored
to the original course by next year. The end was not nearly so exciting and dramatic as it
has been in the past, and I'm sure you all realize that. I didn't even hear Rocky's Theme,
my energizer, at the end!! The biggest frustration, however, was all the walkers wearing
yellow and green race numbers. I signed up for the time I realistically expected to run,
(orange) but for the first two miles of the race I had to try to dodge around a solid wall
of walkers wearing yellow and green numbers, who had started ten minutes ahead of my group
and had not run a step. I don't suppose anything can be done about that, but it is so
annoying and frustrating that I need to vent my feelings! Also, having just one way down the
hill to Latah creek only increased congestion, as it narrows in that area and there was
absolutely no way to get around the walkers. So that nice long downhill, where you can
expect to pick up some speed, actually slowed one down, instead. Anyway, Bloomsday was fun
as always, but I hope it's back to the old course by next year! Thanks for listening!
