May Day Triathlon /Duathlon & Kid's mini-tri |
Important event information for the May Day Triathlon /Duathlon & Kid's mini-tri, May 1, 2004 ,
| TIME: | Adults: 11:00 a.m Kids race: 1:00 p.m. |
| PLACE: | Elma, WA @ Vance Creek Park (see map) |
| DISTANCE: | Triathlon: 300 meter swim, 13 mile bike, 3 mile run. Duathlon: 2 Mile Run, 13 Mile Bike, 2 Mile Run Kids: 25 yard swim or wade, 3/4 mile bike, 1/4 mile run. |
| COURSE: | INDIVIDUALS OR 2/3 PERSON TEAMS!!!! The SWIM course is out and back along a buoy line attached to a boat. Swim is in a small man-made lake, water temperature around 60 degrees. Wetsuits are recommended but not required. BIKE COURSE: The bike course is out and back on flat, paved, scenic roads. The course has no hills and few turns. The RUN course is out and back on the first part of the bike, also with no hills. There will be an Aide Station at the turnaround. DUATHLON: Both RUNS are out and back flat on the first part of the bike course. BIKE COURSE: Is the same as the triathlon. KIDS RACE: All in the park on a paved bike path. Miles are marked and courses are accurate. Course is perfect for beginners or veterans. |
| AGE GROUPS: | 0-5, 6-10, 11-14, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-45, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70 up. There is also 2 or 3 Person team divisions of men, women and mixed. All finishers in the Kids mini-tri receive medals. |

| AWARDS: | Top 7 overall in the triathlon both male and female will receive Trophies and be bumped from age groups. Top 3 in the Duathlon overall male and female will receive Trophies. Top 3 in 5 year age groups receive special 2004 neck medals. NOTE: If you don't receive a age group medal you get a finisher medal. All kids receive a neck medal. Everyone goes home with something. |
| T-SHIRTS: | All entrants will receive a designer May Day Triathlon/Duathlon short sleeve shirt, unless the no shirt option is checked. You can also upgrade to a Tank Top, Longsleeve shirt or Sweatshirt. Or you can order an extra short, tank top, longsleeve or sweatshirt. Sizes are small, medium, large, extra large or 2XL. |
| DRIVING INSTRUCTIONS: | From the NORTH take Hwy 101 off of I-5 in Olympia. Go north past Capital Mall exit. Take Hwy 8 heading west towards the Ocean. Take the 2nd Elma exit and turn left over the freeway. Follow to Wenzelslough Road and turn right. Park is on the right side. From the SOUTH take EXIT 88B off I-5(Aberdeen)and go west on Hwy 12 through Rochester, Oakville, Porter and Malone. Upon entering Elma turn left on Hwy 8. Take the next exit and turn left over the freeway. Turn right on Wenzelslough road. Park is on the right. (see map) |
| OTHER INFO: | 1st annual event with lots of postrace food such ham, turkey, roast beef or tuna sandwiches. There will also be lots of cookies, donuts and other goodies. Bottled water will be available along with gatorade and soda to drink. RESULTS: Will be available after the race and be posted at www.ontherunevents.com, www.duathlon.com and www.transitiontimes.com. |
